The Volcano Express – Eve Harpa ehf.

Description

Hear the rumble, feel the heat. An accessibility-focused website for Iceland’s unique multi-sensory theater.

I asked chatGPT for 10 volcano fun-facts but none of them were actually fun.

The mission

From fiery eruptions to earth-shaking tremors, Volcano Express immerses visitors in the raw power and beauty of Iceland’s volcanic landscapes. We crafted a website as thrilling and innovative as the journey itself.

Challenges

Design for the masses

Accessibility was a key focus of the project. Designing for a large, diverse demographic while meeting all necessary criteria is challenging, especially if we also wanted to provide a unique visual experience. It required us to get creative in many ways.

Behind the scenes

Before the design ever happens

A lot of things are planned and laid out before we even reach to the visual design phase. Art direction, sitemaps, information architectures, …

Development

Make it alive

...through dynamic animations, custom-developed interactive elements, and immersive videos, all while ensuring a seamless and accessible user experience. To top it off we implemented SEO best practices to boost visibility and set the stage for a flawless takeoff.
